Food allergy or food intolerance?

So you know you’re dealing with some type of food sensitivity, but unsure of the difference between food allergy and food intolerance?   Take a look below to learn a bit more about food allergy versus food intolerance.

Food allergies are more noticeable, due to the immediate reaction, however most people do not realise that food intolerance is much more common.  There are many children and adults with undiagnosed food intolerances, living with the unwanted symptoms.

There are many factors surrounding food sensitivities.  These are the state of the mother’s gut flora (good bacteria in her gut) when pregnant, chemicals sprayed on the food, the origin of the product, and even underlying emotional reactions that cause the child’s system to be more reactive.  Whilst there is no general consensus of the cause of food allergies or food intolerances, there are definitely proactive factors that can improve a child’s ability to live a vibrant life.

There are many different methods for testing food allergies and intolerances.  It is ultimately up to the family to decide the best means for them.
